I was listening to Madonna's first album today just randomly and I noticed that it had a bunch of what I would call generic 80's synth. You know that kind that I mean, the kind thats really jumpy and sounds futuristic (but like...old futuristic...you know?). Well anyway the main synth line in this song captures that same jumpy futuristic sound, and it gives your tune this unmistakable 80's vibe to it that fits very well. Even the drums and some of the reverb I'm hearing give me that feeling like this would be right at home on some ancient music video on old Mtv. I love that about this song, it really feels like it has character.

Really cool. Hearing a song in a dream is such an amazing source for inspiration. I wish I could hear the "original" version that was in your dream. In regards to the actual tune, I love the use of delay on the main sound, It really gives it a distant, otherworldly feeling. Also, when the beat and the bassline drop out and it comes back with that ominous background resonance; thats cool.

treyhaur responds:

This is actually the first one I've held onto long enough to make any kind of track out of. I just wish there was a way to record a dream (damn you science! you haven't given us jetpacks yet either!). Anyway, glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the review!

cool

IMO they fit better this way. They match the vibe convey by the melody much better. They feel like they blend in better, while at the same time maintaining their presence.

treyhaur responds:

Hell yeah, I'm glad it sounds better.
Thanks for the second review and the advice!

quite fine.

great, you made the most of that drum loop. The guitar is present enough that I doubt anyone would ever even notice.

Very nice.

very good, I love it. This song is very well paced. Doesn't rush at all, It just takes it's time and gets to where it's going peacefully. The slow build makes this song very relaxing and gives it strong upward progression, as if the song is physically climbing. I also love the variety of tones, all of which are very well blended. It feels precise and balanced. also, the little background ambient noise that's in there (it becomes really noticeable toward the end); it's a nice touch and give texture to the song, It's layered in very well. What kind of setup are you using? Would it be foolish of me to assume that you have a looper pedal?

JinxOmishThe2nd responds:

Thanks a lot! It was my wee Marshall Valvestate close and room miked going into Cubase LE where I fooled around with reverbs and delays. I didn't have a loop pedal at the time so I used really heavy and long delay for the main rhythm bit. The rest was overdubbed in Cubase.

excellent

feels very tense, like some sort of spy sneaking around a factory or something. I love it. Those little tic tac percussion sounds give it great tempo, it makes the song feel very quick. Shit gets real at 4:30 when the extra beat layer comes in. Thats when the song really picks up and finishes with a nice substantial climax, but not overly so as to ruin the overall smoothness of the track. This is very well paced, everything feels in it's place. There is certain restraint and efficiency of sound that works very well here. Outstanding work.

KKSlider60 responds:

Thank you very much ^^
I'm gonna make another "robotic" track soon, stay tuned :D
Have a special day,

great.

cool. It reminds me of something but I don't know what it is. It's very mellow sounding, just enough percussions, just enough layers. I like it.

nightsurfermusic responds:

This one will be finished, I hope. I'll let you know when it is. :)

neat.

very nice. I never thought I'd hear a TF2 track in this way. Very interesting. But WTF was that at 0:46? That hurt my ears a little. I didn't appreciate that.

superuberinsaneausm responds:

if you listen to the whole orignal theme there is a part like that. look it up

real cool.

THAT SNARE IS TASTY. I love that bassline too, it sounds like it's talking to me and I like what it's saying.

SteakJohnson responds:

i like it when my basslines talk lol

great.

Amazing. Sounds like an early PS1/Saturn shoot-em up. I love the the variety you've got going with the drums, they're very lively and give the song a great backbone. All the synth sounds are also well chosen and give the song a cohesive feel. The is really well put together.

Now Tayne I can get into!
