cool loop.

This is really nice and simple. I don't have a lot to say about, but I don't really need to say anything. It speaks for itself. 5/5

Xorberax responds:

I really didn't spend much time on this at all. I was just browsing through my favorite site (Newgrounds) and decided, "Hey! This website helped me get to where I am. I should make a song dedicated to my experience here."

This isn't meant to be an official song of mine. Just something whipped up in a few minutes to express my gratitude for this place.

lol, "in progress" folder. Thats a nice way to put it. I just have a "scrap" folder. Whatever goes in there usually never comes back out.

Anyway, this song. man...it feels messy and choppy. Like at 1:12. Also, in the very begging, it's so choppy I was a little confused as to what I was even hearing at first. It sounds so synthetic. Like this is what a metal song would sound like if it were made by a computer. No real drums, no real guitar, no real strings, no real bass. Remember back in the 90's, whenever you would go to a website and a little midi song would play in the background? That's what this reminds me of.

I know I'm being mean and shit, but whatever. I see you worked really hard to put this together and you had a lot of good ideas, like that "guitar" solo you've got in there. You obviously know what you're doing, but the technology isn't keeping up and it sounds disjointed. Keep making music, dude. Don't stop.

ItchiroNegaiSakamori responds:

You actually make a pretty strong assumption. Only about 10% of my music is ever "authentic" and the rest is digital. I use a mix of MIDI sounds, synthesizing software, and noise collaboration. I agree with you that this could have been much better and it's certainly not my best work. Thank you for your feedback.

very neat.

good beat. It's very subdued, not that typical "super-load-in-your-face" DnB beat you usually hear. That combined with the pads in the background give the track a very light and airy feel which is very uncommon of this kind of music. The sub bass is a sounds a little lightweight through my headphones though, maybe boost that a little? Good job on the panning, I can here the ...um..."stereoness" of it. This is a great track. 5/5.

pichuscute0 responds:

Thanks for the review.

So, the reason the beat is more on the minimal side is because I tend to listen to alot of Liquid DnB with more minimal beats, because of this, I'm very influenced by that when making my own stuff. I'm glad you liked that part about it.

As for the sub-bass, I think I lowered it's volume a little and forgot to raise it up again. Simple fix. I'll do that tonight.
EDIT:Nope, it's actually a just not as sub-by as I thought. I updated it a little to try and fix it, but I doubt it did much good

The pluck is something I'm still not quite happy with. I don't what it is exactly, but I'll probably tweak it some more. The panning helped, but not enough. (And I think I over did it on the panning, too)

Well, thanks for the review. It was helpful. :)

you deserve a review.

I don't find it lonely at all (as you described it). I thought it felt lively and full. You used a good variety of sounds and you made them all fit together well, nothing sticks out as being out of place. At 1:00 the drums liven up and a new sounds hit and that really gives it good since of progression. Good job at recognizing what was needed and executing. On the other hand, It's does end kind of abruptly though, whats up with that?

Overall it's great though, it reminds me of something that would be in an early sega saturn RPG. 5/5

Incridible

really nice. I like the intro on this; it's the first time in a while I've heard an intro and didn't feel like it was just wasting time. It's sets up the funky machine rhythm that plays throughout the song, and it allows the beat to come in with lots of force; it's a great backdrop. After that, the bass and main synth line come in and it all melts together. I love how you play with the filter too, It's very lively without being overdone. I especially love at around 1:56 when the secondary sound comes in and it shifts gears a bit. It gives variety to the song and makes it feel like it's making progress. Great track. 5/5

great. It reminds me of the 90's. You've got a good variety of sounds here (echo piano, angelic background voices, technological sounding synths, etc.) I've gotta say though, I feel like most of the song is transition. There isn't a lot of time where the beat is going and the track it's at it's maximum. It spends most of it's time being soft with a lot of fluff and reverb. it's cool though. 5/5

TIMarbury responds:

ya only the ending is a real hit! the mid section is fluff like you said and it does drag on a bit. thx for the input.

nice.

I was a little unsure of it at first, I didn't feel like the sounds went together. But as it went on I saw how the unpredictability of the main sound gave the track character. The craziness of it was the point. I also, like the low-fi sound of the percussions, they make a really nice backdrop for the rest of it. I'm still a little unsure of the bass sound though, I don't know whats wrong with it, but I'm just not feeling it as much as the other parts. cool song though. 5/5

treyhaur responds:

Yeah the bassline is supposed to be there for continuity but I think put a little too much variation in it for that purpose. I have an alternate bassline for this track so if NG doesn't go stupid on me, I'll try and update with a different bassline.

Thanks for the review!

real cool.

This is nice. I especially like what's going on in the background; the little "yeaahhhh" shouts and what sounds like some sort of strings. I've got to say I don't like the main sound though; it sounds like cheesy, fake electric guitar. When the switches at 1:54, I was happy.

pookicker responds:

Thanks, man.

The main sound was an attempt at emulating an electric guitar but, I guess it isn't gonna fool anyone! :D That's o.k. though, it's what I wanted to hear.

I was beat boxing the beat out while driving to work and by the time I got home, the rhythm/melody came to out sounding like part of Plush by the Stone Temple Pilots. So, I went for sounds that had a '90s rock element.. kinda melded into the cheesy, fake electric guitar when I quit it.

cool.

It's got a mellow, ambient feel to it at the beginning. It starts to pick up and becomes more structured as the beat rises in and the piano sets itself up. That kind of progression makes it feel well paced. I'm unsure about that part where the bass drums starts repeating though, that felt a little too harsh considering how soft the rest the tune is. But it's a good song. 5/5

cool song bro.

I don't really have much to say. I just wanted to let you know this song is pretty tight. Bass, melody, beat, and pacing all complement each other well. 5/5
