lol
i find this hilarious.
lol
i find this hilarious.
ah thats clever.
thats a very goofy sample to use. I love stuff like that though.
lol, thanks. x3
pretty cool.
I like the way it was a blend of old and new. By that I mean it sounds like a classic 8-bit song, but there are some things in there that aren't "8-bit possible", such as the way it phases around at points and the reverby synth at the end.
the is amazing for only an hour. impressive.
5/5
well i did everything with the ymvst plugin that is an plugin that recreates the sound of the atari
awesome.
This is really cool. I love the way you had a story in mind and executed it via audio. It really indicates that a lot of thought and time went into this, and it shows. There is a lot of good stuff on newgrounds, but you can always tell when someone put in a little more effort than usual; this is one of those cases.
I really like the way it's paced. It has a peaceful and calm beginning, a build up and eventual highpoint, and a forlorn sounding end. Pacing is something that I need to work on in my songs, and this piece will be a good example for me to learn from.
great song. 5/5
wow thank you very much for the review!
pretty cool
it works as a short loop. Even though there isn't a terrible amount of stuff going on, what is here is well done. it has a great groove to it; very upbeat, but at the same time it's not abrasive. I even like the way it loops. Good beat, good melody, good song.
you have a very interesting style.
yea, this would be awesome if all the sounds were coming from different directions. How are you recording this in such a way that it doesn't end up in stereo? are you using software or are you preforming this live?
I 'made' it in musicĀ® for the playstation, thus.. on a console. Then i need to convert it to pc using a 'tulp' cable as its called.. atleast in my country, no idea if its called otherwise in other countries.
But though the cable 'does have 2 sockets on one end, it doesnt on the other. (the input is l/r but the output only r (red and white sockets) and its also inverted because im taking the sound from the playstation 2 usb to the pc recording it with audacity because thats the most decent program.
So all in all i had to edit this track on the spot setting all the L's to R's manually for it to even register the sound on the recording. ;(
The best about this song was the moment in wich the small bell (its a editted flute actually) and the loud bell (a slightly editted rhode) are both playing their own parts and in the end play a tune together after wich a darker theme starts to play, followed again by the lighter happy theme and so on.
I wanted this to sound alive, i think i had some success in that but yes.. it wouldve been alot more appearant if the surround effects were still in.
Thanks for reviewing. :)
pretty nice.
PROS:
I like the way the song "Explodes" at 0:45
Unique. This doesn't sound like anything else.(i mean that in a good way).
moody. it has a distant, confused sound to it.
CONS:
any CON i could list would be a nitpick. (too short, too weird, ect.)
5/5
You have a good ear to recognise its 'confusion' theme. Thats the exact thing i builded this track on. And eh, yea the whole strenght of the piece is that i keep the melody completely analog untill it explodes into hifi :P
If any i will make this track again first in fl once i get to sit down for it.
Did you know (ofcourse not but im gonna tell you anyway :p) that every second of this track the tones switched in a 1/4th in the original version, so you would feel like that hiphop song 'lay back' or whatsitcalled constantly shifting with the rythm yourself, its beyond awesome hearing it on the console in its original form. :)
Definately one of my best ryhtmic works hands down.
really good idea.
PROS:
organ melody works.
good beat
CONS:
organ is to loud, overpowers rest of song.
repetative.
4/5
cool
PROS:
good beat.
well implemented samples and clips.
that choppy scratch sound that plays throughout is neat.
variety of sounds.
CONS:
When that sythn hits at 0:45...OUCH. too loud.
repeats itself. repeats itself.
4/5
i thought it was kinda loud too, after publishing it. But thanx for the input. I'm glad you liked the track and thanx for the review.
sorry.
man, I hate to leave a mediocre score, especially since you just gave me such a nice one; but I've got to be honest.
I don't think the attack on the orchestra sounds is done right. It sounds very sudden. It doesn't fit the drums and the other sounds in the song, which are actually quite nice.
Also, it doesn't loop well at all. It just cuts and restarts. That's gotta be fixed.
sorry. You're a cool guy though.
Don't worry at all. Even if you gave me a 0 and had a reason for it, I would be overjoyed. If everyone 10'd and 5'd all day, how could we learn from our mistakes?
The best reviews are the critical ones.
As for the attack, I didnt really notice any fault, but now that you mention it, I can see. I will try to remaster this track in the near future. As for the matching with the beat, I will try to see what I can do.
And the reason why the song doesnt loop well is because this is an MP3 file being streamed, atleast, that's what I presume. On the DAW, it looped fine. If it was a wav file, it would loop a whole lot better.
Thanks for the review. Your honesty has really helped me in being a better musician.
